We recently held the largest turnaround here at the Sarnia manufacturing Centre in 2022. Our Turnaround started as we were all coming out of a pandemic which had Shell Health services strapped. We were in need of support for Health services with the amount of personnel working on our site. Fit for work was contracted out to provide site Health coverage as well as case management for injured personnel. The service provided far exceeded our expectations. Fit For work provided very professional service with care for the individual as the utmost priority.

Kel-Gor has been using Fit For Work since May of 2018 to assist us with incident management and Drug and Alcohol testing. The doctors and staff have been excellent to deal with and are very knowledgeable about occupational medicine as well as the challenges we face as a contractor in the Sarnia area.

They find the most effective way to treat our injured workers while maintaining our ability to keep our people working. Their ability to see workers at the Emergency room has come in handy on several occasions, allowing for rapid, targeted treatment for even more serious cases.

The Drug and Alcohol testing programs that they have in place are second to none – we have never had to wait to get a test done post incident. Using the paging system ensures that we get a call back from the on-call doctor within minutes regardless of the issue. Most recently, with COVID 19, we have also used their services to do temperature screening for our employees at the shops. This process has been well received by our workers, who have expressed the opinion that it is nice that we care enough about them to provide this service.

After 16 years as HSE Manager finally the stress of having to Case Manage occupational injuries alone is finally gone. The knowledge, experience and understanding of conservative care the Fit for Work Doctors have to help with Injury Case Management to prevent a “First Aid” from escalating to a “Recordable Incident” or “Lost Time” is worth its weight in gold.
