All physicians are fully insured through the Canadian Medical Protective Association, in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Medical Association (sections of Emergency and Addiction Medicine), and the Canadian College of Family Physicians.

 

Our team of nurses is highly experienced and certified with CNO. Allied health practitioners including physiotherapists, chiropractors, and optometrists are independently insured and in good standing with their professional licensing bodies.

Dr. Marc Austin

B.A, M.D, CCFP, MRO

Dr. Austin received his BA in Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 1995. He then attended McMaster University School of Medicine and graduated in 1999. By 2004, Dr. Austin completed his Residency for Emergency and Family Medicine through the University of Western Ontario and has been with the Bluewater Health Emergency Department since then. In 2006, he was a founding member of the BMC Addictions Clinic in Sarnia, where he continues to practice. In 2008, Dr. Austin was appointed adjunct professor of Medicine at Western University. In 2016 along with Dr. Vouriot, he began two practices in Lambton County. They started the St. Clair Family Physicians practice in Corunna, Ontario, as well as Fit For Work.

Dr. Austin obtained his occupational medicine education from the University of Alberta in 2016-2018. He became a Medical Review officer in 2010. He remains an active member of the Occupational and Environmental Medical Association of Canada. Dr. Austin has done occupational medical and consulting work for Shell, Suncor, and Costco Canada and currently cares for the employees of over 20 companies in the Sarnia area.

In addition to this, Dr. Austin has been a credentialled active staff member in the department of emergency medicine since 2003 at Bluewater Health.

Dr. Dan Vouriot

MD, CCFP(EM), MRO

Dr. Vouriot received his B.Sc. from the University of Winnipeg in 1991. He attended the University of Manitoba from 1991-95, and completed his Family Medicine Residency here as well. From 1997 to 2000, he was ranked Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces and provided preventative medical surveillance for soldiers, ensured fitness to serve and planned as well as directed medical support for all military operations. Dr. Vouriot was deployed to Bosnia with NATO from February to June of 2000. By June 2001, he had completed his Emergency Medicine at the University of Alberta. In 2002 Dr. Vouriot was promoted to Major, and worked with the Canadian Contingent in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Here he was the medical commander of the combat mission 101st airborne division, and was responsible for training personnel in the response to chemical and biological weapons. He also screened personnel for fitness and disease before and after deployment. In 2003, Dr. Vouriot achieved his Advanced Diving Medicine at DRES Toronto.

 

From 2003 to present, he has worked full time in the Emergency Department at Bluewater Health. From 2006 to 2011 he was appointed medical director of the Bluewater Health Emergency Department and Surgery. Dr. Vouriot also has worked with the BMC addictions clinic since 2011. From 2006 to present, he works with the Bluewater Health and CKHA Occupational Health Services. He joined Dr. Austin with the St. Clair Family Physicians in 2016.

Adnan Chaudhry

MD, CCFP (EM)

Dr. Chaudhry received his B.Sc. from McMaster University in 2006. He then attended Saba University School of Medicine from 2006-2010. He completed his Family Medicine Residency from University of Buffalo in 2013. He then worked in Emergency Medicine at Bluewater Health in Sarnia until 2017 and currently works at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital as an Emergency Room Physician. He is currently an adjunct professor of Medicine at McMaster University.

Holly Bayne

Holly has been in health care since 2007, Graduating the Medical Laboratory course in 2010. She worked as a phlebotomist for 8 years, then deciding to take a turn into the occupational health field. She trained as a Certified Drug and Alcohol specialist in 2018, when she started working with Fit For Work. Currently she overseeing the D&A program for on and offsite.
She had also expanded her involvement with the company to the bookkeeping, and Operations Supervisor.

Tom Hennessey

Tom has worked in the petrochemical industry for the past 40 years. He is experienced as a plant operator, plant safety specialist and since 1995 as an independent safety consultant to both industry and construction. Tom helped build and develop the local Industrial Education Cooperative where he designed and instructed many of the existing programs. Tom is a professional member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering and has been a safety specialist for 35 years. He has designed and implemented many safety training programs used in Canada and throughout the world today. Tom’s greatest strength is in working with people at all levels of any organization to maximize their resources.

Julie Klompstra

Marylyn Hamlyn

Marylyn has been working as a nurse since 2013 when she graduated from Registered Practical Nursing at Lambton College in Sarnia, Ontario. She started her nursing journey in a long-term care facility then relocated to Bluewater Health a few years later where she gained mental health inpatient unit experience, followed by acute care and complex continuing care at CEEH Bluewater Health.

 

Marylyn began working for Fit For Work in 2020 and this piqued her interest in Occupational Health Nursing. She graduated from the Occupational Health and Safety Program from the University of Fredericton a year later and has been practicing full-time as an Occupational Health Nurse with Fit For Work ever since.

 

Marcel Blais

My name is Marcel Blais and I am a Nurse Practitioner that does Occupational health medicine for Fit For Work.

I have 15 years of nursing experience in critical care.  Including 5 years in the emergency room and 8 years in Critical Care Intensive Care units across Canada and the United States.  I have been working as a Nurse Practitioner for the past 5 years in both the emergency room and Occupational Health.  I am a certified Occupational health Nurse Practitioner and also a certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support instructor.

I have extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of all Occupational health and safety conditions.  I am trained in suturing, incident management and have experience with burns in the workplace setting.  My extensive work experience in multiple critical care settings has prepared me for the role of Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner.

 

Melisa Pomero

Support

Melissa graduated from Lambton College and has been an RPN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario since 2005. She has been actively involved with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario throughout her career and has been an elected board of directors from 2017 to 2021.  She has worked in acute, community, and primary care in both frontline and leadership capacities. Her leadership roles allowed her to gain experience in Return to Work plans and WSIB forms.

 

Melissa has remained vigilant with continuing education throughout her career. Most recently she has directed her training to focus on the field of occupational health. She has taken the Occupational Health and Safety Program through Niagara College and is a Certified Specimen Collector through DATAC.
